Where are we going?
48 teams from different countries meet in Thailand to experience a fantastic holiday with purpose. 48 provinces are going to hear the Gospel – at the same time! The teams will first gather in Bangkok and are then spread to different provinces where they will share the Gospel in close cooperation with local Christians. Thereby the work continues after we return home! This trip is recommended for families with children, students, adults and elderly people.
Blitz Thailand is the vision Dag Heggset received; that all the 77 provinces in Thailand shall hear the gospel at the same time. Thailand is a beautiful country with 70 million precious inhabitants. Sadly they don’t know Jesus. The Thais are one of the world’s largest unreached people groups. We’ll minister at schools, markets, villages and cities. In addition to preaching the Gospel by words, we will show God’s heart by helping the sick and the poor. Our vision is to see a transformed Thailand! The waiting time is over! Experience a holiday with purpose, either you «just» go for the mission trip or by extending the trip to Thailand and have some holiday there on your own.
What will we do?
On June 23 we depart from Værnes with Dag Heggset as our tour guide (You can also choose to travel on your own at another suitable time).
On June 25 we join the kick-off for Blitz Thailand – all the 48 teams are gathered! Then we are spread around in the provinces. There we build relationship with local Christians and learn about people and culture. On June 27-29 we take part in outreach. On June 30, we attend Sunday services in the local churches before we return to Bangkok.
On July 1, all the 48 teams meet again in Bangkok. Now we shall celebrate! We enjoy a meal together, worship and thank God and listen to reports from the teams. It will also be information about further work and projects.
Blitz Thailand 19 has now officially come to an end, but a wonderful beach is awaiting us on July 2-3. before we return to Norway in the evening on July 3. We arrive Trondheim on July 4.
What’s the cost?
The cost of the ground package in Thailand is 8800 NOK (5000 NOK for students and youth under 18 years. Maximum 25,000 NOK per family). This includes transport for the teams inside Thailand, accommodation and food. It does not include airfares, passport/visa, travel insurance and vaccinations. Either you can travel with the group from Betel/BiT, with Dag Heggset as tour guide, or book your own tickets. You have to arrive in Bangkok at latest June 25 at 2 PM local time. Don’t travel home from Bangkok before July 2. Additionally you need to arrange personal travel insurance (if you pay at least 50 % of the flight tickets with your credit card/MasterCard, travel insurance is often included), necessary vaccinations (polio, diphtheria, tetanus, hepatitis A/B). Check with your local vaccination office.), passport that are valid six months after your return to Norway and money for other expenses. You do not need malaria medicine. Some countries need visa for Thailand.
“The people who walk in darkness will see a great Light; Those who live in the dark land, The Light will shine on them.” (Isaiah 9:2)
Who are the 48 teams?
Some of the teams are already set. They are sent out by their church or organization, or they belong to a common network. When people travel alone, or as pairs, we will help to form good and complete teams that coopearate well. The teams in Blitz Thailand is often a mix of different nationalities, experience, age, gender and different gifts and talents. Then we connect with local Christians in each place and share the gospel in unity. This is some of the factors that makes Blitz Thailand so unique. Not only do people in the 48 provinces get to hear the Gospel when we are there, but the work continues when we leave!
Blitz Thailand core team
To make you stay as optimal as possible in all ways, we have two core teams that work hard throughout the entire year with this in mind. One of the teams consists of local Thais located in Bangkok. They are led by Goi, who has many years experience with such kind of work. Here in the West we have a team of 5, which are led by Dag Heggset (Norge). The other team members are Mia Christine Helgemo (Norway), Kathleen Lilleness (USA), Daniel Smenes (Germany) and Tong Largado (Norway).
